About International Market Place

  • International Market Place opened August 25, 2016, extending the Kalakaua shopping experience with an inviting open-air design and a lush Hawaiian sense of place that features a fire tower, a three-story water wall, an interactive entertainment stage, as well as a tree house in an enormous Indian banyan tree, planted circa 1850.
  • The center is anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue, the only luxury department store in Waikiki and the Grand Lanai, which provides al fresco dining at nine chef-driven and unique restaurants, including Baku Japanese Robata Bar, Eating House 1849 by Roy Yamaguchi, Flour & Barley, Goma Tei Ramen, Herringbone and Yauatcha from the Hakkasan Group, Kona Grill and Stripsteak by Michael Mina. In addition, The Street, A Michael Mina Social House and Mitsuwa Marketplace. This is the largest concentration and best assortment of dining options in Waikiki.
  • International Market Place is located on the 50 yard line of the Waikiki tourist district with direct access and frontage on Kalakaua Avenue and Kuhio Avenue with daily foot traffic of 52,000 – 80,000 people.
  • The center is strategically situated in the heart of Waikiki on the island of Oahu, which had a record number 5.5 million visitors (2.7 from the U.S., 1.4 million from Japan) in 2016 who spend $7.3 billion annually.
  • Half of the island’s population is located within 10 miles of International Market Place.
  • The Honolulu metro area has impressive residential demographics, with over one million people and nearly 123,000 households earning over $100K.
  • Honolulu is one of the densest metro areas in the U.S. and the growth of households earning over $100K and $200K is the strongest of the top 7 MSA’s in the country.
  • 2016 was the fifth straight year of increased visitors to Oahu. The average tourist travels over 8 hours to get here and stays 7 days. 80% of all hotel rooms on Oahu (32,000 rooms) are within walking distance. The critical mass of upscale shopping and dining options – combined with entertainment daily – makes International Market Place a “must-see” for tourists and locals alike.
